IEDC held a webinar December 3rd, 2014 on using business retention and expansion to mitigate the effects of disaster. In the post-disaster environment, businesses that do not have strong ties to the community may leave or close. Establishing relationships with businesses prior to a catastrophe is one of the best ways to ensure they stay. Economic developers can strengthen these relationships through their business retention and expansion (BRE) efforts, while expanding these tools to improve disaster planning and mitigation capacities.
In this webinar, two industry leaders discussed the application of BRE strategies as the underpinning for preparedness and response to natural and man-made disasters.
