IEDC’s Heartfelt Condolences to Those Impacted by Recent Hurricanes & Tropical Storms

IEDC’s board of directors and staff send our heartfelt sympathies and prayers to those who are being impacted by the recent hurricanes and tropical storms, including Harvey, Irma, Maria, Jose and other catastrophic and unprecedented events. We also send our deepest condolences to those impacted by the west coast fires. We hope for a full recovery in all communities that are impacted.

IEDC is committed to sharing resources that help communities build back in a stronger and more resilient way after a major catastrophe. For people trying to get information on economic recovery, some of those include:

We encourage the entire economic development community of professionals to explore RestoreYourEconomy.org, which advises on critical activities to conduct before and after a disaster that will assist in economic recovery. It also offers advice on encouraging businesses to engage in disaster preparedness, how to establish a business recovery center and/or finance recovery tools / small business recovery fund, and a host of other resources. Case studies show how communities have worked to restore their economies after a major disaster.

Our thoughts go out to those whose family members and friends were affected and to those involved in the recovery work that lies ahead.
