Lyz Crane is the Deputy Director for ArtPlace America, a ten-year national collaboration among a number of foundations, federal agencies, and financial institutions that works to position arts and culture as a core sector of comprehensive community planning and development. Previously, she served as the Communications Director at ArtHome, an organization that helps artists and their communities build assets and equity through financial literacy; and the Director of Program Development and Program Manager of the Shifting Sands Initiative at Partners for Livable Communities, a national nonprofit leadership organization working to improve the livability of communities by promoting quality of life, economic development, and social equity. In 2009, Crane was named a ‘Next City Vanguard’ by urban affairs magazine Next City. She received her MPA in policy analysis from the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University and her BA in Urban Studies and Sociology from Barnard College, Columbia University.
Cambridge Seven Associates, Inc.
Chris Muskopf is a Senior Associate and architect at Cambridge Seven Associates, Inc. Since joining C7A, has worked on a wide variety of projects, including the Gloucester HarborWalk, Franklin Park Zoo Children’s Zoo expansion, and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in Calgary. He is currently working on the design of the new Roux Center for the Environment at Bowdoin College, the energy Producing Facility at UMass Boston and the WBUR CitySpace at Boston University. Mr. Muskopf received his Masters of Architecture from MIT and draws from a wide range of experiences in the design professions, including landscape architecture and community-based design. He has served as a guest critic for various universities, including MIT, Northeastern University, Boston Architectural College, Miami University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The Progress Fund
Mr. David A. Kahley is co-founder and President and CEO of The Progress Fund, a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) incorporated in 1997 and based in Greensburg PA. The Progress Fund provides small business loans in rural Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and western Maryland. With Assets over $41 Million, The Progress Fund is one of the largest CDFIs specializing in small business financing.
The Trail Town Program® is an initiative of The Progress Fund which implemented the first program in the nation for trail-based recreation redevelopment. In addition, The Progress Fund established a Real Estate Development Initiative in 2010 which purchases and rehabilitates key commercial and residential properties to spur neighboring development in small rural towns along the Great Allegheny Passage and other surrounding Pittsburgh PA.
The Progress Fund was a winner of the Wachovia Wells Fago NEXT Awards for Opportunity Finance in 2011. The Award is the country’s largest and most coveted awards program for community development financial institutions (CDFIs). In 2012, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania inducted David Kahley and Karen Post, the co-founders of The Progress Fund, into the Keystone Society for Tourism, which recognizes visionaries who have made outstanding contributions to Pennsylvania’s tourism industry.
David has over 30 years of professional experience in community and economic development. Previously, David was Senior Associate for TDA, a consulting firm based in Seattle, Washington which provided expertise in alternative modes of transportation for both private and public development. David also encouraged use of alternative transportation as Executive Director of the Bellevue (Washington State) Transportation Management Association. Also in Washington State, David was Executive Director of the Main Street Project of Port Townsend, an historic coastal seaport that effectively used tourism to revitalize two Victorian-era nationally registered business districts. Earlier in Pennsylvania, he was Property Manager for Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation, a non-profit organization which developed and operated Station Square, a major mixed-use (retail, office, hotel and restaurant) development along Pittsburgh’s downtown waterfront.
David is certified by National Development Council’s Economic Development Professional program and the Urban Land Institute’s Real Estate Development Finance Professional program.
David is a resident of the City of Greensburg, Pennsylvania and is Chairman of its Planning Commission.
