On Tuesday, September 15, JFF (formerly Jobs for the Future)  teamed up with XPRIZE and New Profit to discuss working with workforce boards, American job centers, and the US workforce system. The conversation was the third installment in a series of webinars discussing the United States’ workforce systems. The discussion centered around Career One-Stop Centers and innovative workforce boards.

Since the community lockdowns started in early March, we have seen Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, three of the major US holidays, come and go during times of crowd restriction, social distancing protocol, or quarantine. With summer holidays and vacations now in the rear-view, the next few months will bring more major holidays and potential for travel including spring break season in 2021. New strategies for health and safety are going to be of the utmost importance moving forward. 

The Center for an Urban Future hosted a webinar titled “Laying the Groundwork for Tourism Recovery in NYC” on Wednesday, September 9, in which representatives from New York City and international urban centers discussed tourism recovery efforts during and after the pandemic. This webinar featured two panels, one which focused on efforts from big cities around the world, and one which addressed specific actions New York city could take to combat the economic crises in the tourism industry.
