BCLC’s 2010 Disaster Assistance and Recovery Workshop: Hurricane In Hampton Road

Suggesting improvements in responsibilities and coordination of recovery activities at BCLC’s 2010 Disaster Recovery Workshop

Approximately 100 disaster recovery experts and key stakeholders met in Suffolk, Virginia on July 14 to 15, 2010. Their purpose was to identify key issues, roles, responsibilities, and actions in disaster response and community recovery; suggest means for improving the coordination among appropriate public, private, and non-governmental actors; and to develop a picture of what successful recovery looks like. The workshop took place in Lockheed Martin’s Center for Innovation, a state of the art facility specifically designed to provide the perfect collaborative environment for introducing a disaster scenario and identifying solutions.
