Background

IEDC understands the significance of the task faced by counties in New Jersey as you move forward with the response, restoration, and recovery efforts from Hurricane Sandy. To support your efforts, we are working with the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), FEMA, BCLC, NADO, NACo and other organizations to help implement the National Disaster Recovery Framework. Within the National Disaster Recovery Framework there exists the Economic Recovery Support Function. The mission of the Economic Recovery Support Function is to integrate the expertise of the Federal government to help local, state, and tribal governments and the private sector sustain and/or rebuild businesses and employment, and develop economic opportunities that result in sustainable and economically resilient communities, after significant natural and man-made disasters.

Objectives

  • Seek economic recovery impact information from economic development, planning, workforce development, and community development stakeholders in the State of New Jersey;
  • Identify immediate economic recovery needs and existing organizational activities;
  • Inform stakeholders in the State about the intent and efforts of the Economic Recovery Support Function.
