Free Disaster Recovery Project Advice at IEDC’s 2013 Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA - Sign up by August 16th

Is your community working on an economic recovery or redevelopment project following a presidentially- declared disaster during FY2011 (October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011)? Would your community be interested in free feedback and recommendations from consultants and experienced practitioners? At this year’s Annual Conference, IEDC will be offering free project advice and mentoring to communities impacted by presidentially-declared disasters in FY2011. Communities will have the opportunity to receive feedback and recommendations from experienced consultants and practitioners at the Annual Conference for 90 minutes. Potential topics for projects and discussion include but are not limited to:
  • Economic recovery action plan development
  • Commercial redevelopment project
  • Conducting a downtown or main street analysis
  • Addressing vacant or blighted areas
  • Small business financing strategies
  • Disaster preparedness strategies for EDOs and chambers of commerce
  • Updating your community's strategic plan after a disaster
  • Economic diversification strategies
  • Rebuilding an industry sector
  • Tourism strategy
  • Business retention and expansion (BRE)
  • Crisis communication plan
  • Updating community branding and marketing strategy
  • Strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem
  • Retraining workers
  • Strengthening partnerships and regional collaboration
  • Developing a public-private partnership or private organization
Interested communities should fill out a simple mentoring request form to apply by Friday, August 16, 2013. Consultants and disaster experienced practitioners interested in mentoring should fill out a form to volunteer by Friday, August 16, 2013. Eligible communities must be located within presidentially-declared counties within EDA’s Atlanta and Philadelphia regions.
