Free Resiliency Workshop! Learn from Top Experts

On Oct 16 from 1:00 - 3:00 EST, IEDC will host a workshop in tandem with the 2020 Annual Conference focused on addressing "layered" disasters. Register for this free workshop today.

Disasters - natural, manmade, industrial, or infectious - don’t happen on your timeline, or respect your strategic plans. When you’re reeling from a disaster and another one hits, your community can be thrown off course. Incorporating resiliency into your planning process helps mitigate this “layering” effect.

Join these speakers and panelists to hear from communities who have gone through multiple disasters, as they advise you on your next steps to deal with the fallout from the pandemic:

Dennis Alvord - EDA's Deputy Assistant Secretary will open the session with remarks about his organization's commitment to disaster recovery.

Jerry Bologna, CEcD - Leading Jefferson Parish's economic development efforts, Jerry has faced hurricanes and flooding, while building a successful business climate.

Jeb Brugmann - Drawing from a 37-year career working with cities to establish new practices for local sustainability, climate action, and social equity, Jeb will discuss the work he has done in Puerto Rico and Minneapolis's 38th Street Corridor, the site of George Floyd's death.

Grant Ervin - As the City of Pittsburgh's Chief Resilience Officer, Grant has been involved in major strategic planning efforts in the city.

Mickie Valente - President of Valente Strategic Advisors, she is regularly engaged as an expert consultant by the U.S. Economic Development Administration to coordinate the federal support of on-site economic recovery initiatives.
