COVID-19 Research Project and Technical Assistance

IEDC is embarking on a research project to understand how communities are recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. We are seeking eight volunteer communities to work with over a 12- to 15-month period to learn from their efforts and further inform IEDC’s recovery and resilience work. The communities chosen will be diverse in size, industry, geography, and population.

As part of the project, IEDC will offer technical assistance in the form of one to two virtual mentoring sessions with economic development experts to participating communities.

At the conclusion of the project,  IEDC will also provide recommendations to the economic development districts or equivalent regional entities for the purpose of enhancing the resiliency sections of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) or equivalent documents.

This work will inform IEDC’s recovery and resilience work with insights into pandemic response in the short and long term. The U.S. Economic Development Administration has provided the funds for the project through the Research and National Technical Assistance Program’s CARES Act allotment.

If you have any questions, please contact Emily Brown, director of knowledge management and development, at [email protected].
