IEDC Holds Disaster Recovery Webinar for Those Impacted by Hurricanes Fiona and Ian
On Friday, October 7th, IEDC held a webinar titled” Hurricanes Fiona & Ian: Economic Development Check-in”. The webinar featured specialized expertise from experienced economic developer, David Dodd, CEcD, FM, HLM, and President/CEO of the International Sustainable Resilience Center, who shared insights from his disaster response experience in the U.S. Gulf Coast after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and provided key tips for the economic developer’s response to a disaster.
The webinar also featured IEDC’s Matt Mullin and Emily Brown, CEcD, who shared resources for economic developers - including the IEDC’s Leadership in Times of Crisis Toolkit and restoreyoureconomy.org website - and highlighted the various roles of economic developers in the disaster cycle, utilizing FEMA assistance, small business assistance, post-disaster business retention, and crisis communications.
A recording of this 45-minute webinar can be found here, along with the webinar presentation, which cites specific content from the Leadership in Times of Crisis Toolkit. We hope these can all be helpful resources for economic developers.
