On Friday, October 16, IEDC hosted a webinar and annual conference session addressing long term resilience in the face of multiple crises. The session addressed the road to recovery as disasters meet, particularly how to address natural disasters in the midst of a global pandemic and nation-wide recession. The session included a presentation from Mickie Valente, president of Valente Strategic Advisors and a panel discussion between economic development professionals from around the country. Attendees were welcomed by Dennis Alvord, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Economic Development & Chief Operating Officer.  

The US Census plays an important role in determining where federal funding will be directed for the next 10 years. For economic development organizations, this impacts the amount of funding available on a state and local level from many programs. This year, the census faces unique challenges due to COVID-19 and proposed policy changes from the presidential administration, which could impact results and subsequently, funding. 

IEDC’s board of directors and staff send our heartfelt sympathies and prayers to those communities damaged by Hurricane Delta, many of which are still recovering from the effects of other storms during this 2020 hurricane season. 

Beginning in 2021, IEDC will be identifying communities by request in the EDA Denver Region to receive economic recovery, resilience, and development support from expert technical assistance panels. These panels of 3-4 experts can visit your community to provide assistance with a wide range of economic development strategies and capacity building. Please submit your information through this form. IEDC will accept requests on a rolling basis.
