On February 12th, 2014, IEDC presented the webinar on "Preparing for the Unexpected: Is Your Organization Ready". Organizations with their own preparedness plans in place are a more effective  in disaster recovery. This webinar addresses organizational preparedness, from the steps that will keep your agency functioning to the plans that will coordinate business and community recovery. Three speakers shared their experience and lessons learned. Tish Williams drew on her experience at the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce and their experience in Hurricane Katrina. Diana Donovan shared the Encino Chamber of Commerce’s experience facilitating an organizational and community plan for disaster. Nationally-known expert in disaster planning and business continuity, Dr. Steven Lewis shared his experience in helping organizations prepare for the worst.

Tish Williams Executive Director, Hancock County Chamber of Commerce and the Hancock Community Development Foundation Tish Haas Williams has 30 years of experience in nonprofit management and economic development. She is one of the leading forces in producing solutions and strategies to address serious capacity and delivery needs caused and exposed by hurricane Katrina and the Gulf Oil Spill to support existing businesses as well as sustain long-term growth in the county and region.Ms. Williams also serves as Secretary and Executive Director for Partners for Stennis. Her professional accolades include a 2006 Phoenix Award for Outstanding Contribution to Disaster Recovery by a Public Official by the U.S. Small Business Administration, inclusion on the 2005 Sun Herald’s list of the region’s Top Ten Community Leaders in South Mississippi, and a 2009 Jody Compretta Person of Passion Award for her persistence and leadership to rebuild Hancock County.

Steven Lewis Ph.D, CISA, President, The Systems Audit Group, Inc. Dr. Lewis has been a nationally-known expert in disaster planning and business continuity since the mid-80's.  He has been a speaker on disaster-recovery topics to many business and professional groups, and his articles have appeared in many professional publications.  He was the founder and long-time Editor-in-Chief of the disaster-recovery industry’s standard reference, Edwards Disaster Recovery Directory. Dr. Lewis is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), with a PhD in Systems from the Univ. of Pennsylvania, and a Masters and Bachelors in Engineering from Cornell Univ. During the last twenty plus years, he has developed over 60 comprehensive disaster-recovery/business continuity plans for complex networked-based organizations.  The bulk of these plans were subject to review by Regulatory Agencies and were all approved.  Many of these also included "Year/2000" risk analyses, evaluation and testing. Dr. Lewis is the President of The Systems Audit Group, Inc.

Diana Donovan Chief Executive Officer, Encino Chamber of Commerce Since 2007 Diana has been the C.E.O. of the Encino Chamber of Commerce.  It’s no surprise that when the position opened up she jumped at the opportunity.  She had been a member of the Encino Chamber for eight years prior to being hired as C.E.O. Before taking on the position of C. E. O., Diana worked in sales.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors of United Chambers of Commerce, a coalition of San Fernando Valley Chambers that gives local businesses a louder voice in government and S.C.A.C.C.E., the Southern California Association for Chamber of Commerce Executives. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the International Child Abuse Network. Diana attended Cal State Los Angeles, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Marketing Degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Of all the great things that have happened in Diana’s life, the greatest has been her daughter, Sophia.
